International Fleet Review held in India: US, Russia and Iran among 74 participants
The Indian Navy conducted the International Fleet Review (IFR) on February 18 off the coast of Visakhapatnam, headquarters of the country’s Eastern Naval Command, attended by Droupadi Murmu, the President of India.
A total of 85 vessels, including 19 foreign warships, took part in the review, which aimed to promote cooperation among maritime powers and showcase the capabilities of India’s naval fleet.
The Indian Navy was represented by around 60 warships, ranging from destroyers and cruisers to aircraft carriers and submarines. India is also hosting another major maritime event – the MILAN 2026 international naval exercises – scheduled to commence on February 19.
These large-scale maritime events are being held with the participation of 74 countries friendly to India, including the United States, Russia and Iran, as well as numerous states from the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa. Several European countries are also participating, among them Germany and France. Meanwhile, some countries – including China and Turkey – were not invited to participate in the maritime events, according to Indian sources, due to their close partnership with and support for Pakistan during last year’s military tensions with India
