Iran Protests Continue to Spread; Internet Banned

Protests in Iran have spread to all provinces while the country ‘s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has blamed demonstrators for acting on behalf of Trump
According to Reuters news agency anti-government unrest in Iran is rapidly spreading and, on the 13th day of protests, has engulfed all 31 provinces of the country.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made his first public address to the nation today, Friday, January 9th.
Accusing the protesters of acting on behalf of Donald Trump, the Ayatollah said that some agitators want to please the American president by destroying public property, but defiantly announced that the one and only Iranian people will defeat all enemies. “I urgently call on Trump to focus on his own country’s problems,” he said.
A day earlier on Thursday, US President Donald Trump repeated his threat to strike Iran if security forces’ actions led to bloodshed.
Quoting the Iranian Human Rights Organization, news sources said that at least 45 protesters have been killed, including eight minors, and over a hundred injured. More tha 2,000 people have been taken into preventive custody.
Iran’s state news agency Fars reported that at least five security forces have been killed and 950 police officers injured.
The protests in Iran erupted nearly two weeks ago due to the rapid devaluation of the national currency.
