Joint India-Kazakhstan military exercise concludes successfully

Pithoragarh:  KAZIND- 2019, the joint military exercise between India and Kazakhstan focused on counter-insurgency operations in mountainous terrains concluded here on Tuesday, October 15th.

The 4th edition of annual military exercise KAZIND 2019 between India and Kazakhstan army commenced on October 2nd at Pithoragarh, the Indian Army had announced in a press release. The aim of the exercise was joint training of troops in Counter Insurgency/ Counter Terrorism operations in both Jungle and Mountainous terrain. The army had said that Exercise KAZIND 2019 could be termed “as a facade of long standing strategic ties between India and Kazakhstan.”

 As part of exercise, important lectures, demonstrations and drills related to counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations were conducted. Both the Armies also shared their valuable experiences in countering such situations and also refined drills and procedures for joint operations whenever the need so arises. Amongst other things, rapid deployment of troops to conduct anti terrorist operations & effective operation was the focus of the exercise. Troops from both countries practiced on important aspects of rock craft & field craft drills for succesfull conduct of counter terrorist operations.

The exercise culminated on Octoner 15th with a 72 hour exercise which  showcased the joint skills of soldiers while conducting Counter Terrorism and counter insurgency operations.

 “The exercise concluded today (Tuesday) with 72 hours (of) outdoor exercise involving both troops that carried out cordon and search operation in mock counter-insurgency,” the Army said in a press communique, reported the Press Trust of India (PTI). 

Both the armies participated in a number of extracurricular activities, including friendly football and basketball matches, on the concluding day, it said.

 Guest officers from both the armies said the exercise would not only promote understanding and inter-operability between the militaries of India and Kazakhstan, but also cement the two nations’ ties, according to PTI reports.
