A Bridge Between India and Israel
A woman, an entrepreneur, a chef, an author, and overarching it all – a bridge between India and Israel. Meet Eddna Samuel, a Mumbai Jew, now an Israeli citizen but who carries India with her wherever she goes. Eddna is our chosen personality featured this year on Women’s Day.
IAR caught up with her to get some glimpses of her busy but unusual life
What drives your passion for bridging cultures through business?

As an Indian-Jewish woman, I’m driven by the belief that our differences are what make us stronger. Growing up in Mumbai, celebrating Jewish festivals with Indian flavors, and now living in New York, I’ve seen how cultures blend and enrich each other. Business is a way to build those bridges, create opportunities, and share the beauty of diversity .
How does Indian heritage influence your approach to business and innovation?
Warmth, hospitality, and resilience – these are core to Indian culture and my business approach. I blend tradition with innovation, whether it’s creating kosher Indian spice mixes or hosting cultural workshops. It’s about finding harmony in diversity.
What inspired the Indian-Jewish story for the Graphic Novel?
Growing up in Mumbai’s Jewish community, surrounded by synagogues, Indian food, and festivals, I realized our story’s uniqueness. It’s about celebrating our heritage, struggles, and triumphs – a story of belonging, wherever we come from.
How do you connect India and Israel through cultural and business ties?
India and Israel have a beautiful synergy – tech innovation, cultural richness, and shared values. Through my work, I want to highlight how cross-cultural connections foster understanding, business growth, and peace. My message is simple: diversity isn’t just a buzzword – it’s the future
How do you balance entrepreneurial ambitions with personal life?
Balance is key, but it’s not always easy! As an entrepreneur, I prioritize time with my family and focus on what fuels me – cooking, sharing stories, and connecting people. My businesses in Israel and the US keep me on my toes, but they also let me touch lives and create impact.
What is your advice for aspiring women entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds?

Trust your unique perspective. Your background isn’t a limitation – it’s your superpower. Lean into your cultural strengths, build networks that uplift you, and don’t be afraid to carve your own path.
