India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador T S Tirumurti will install the tricolour and is expected to make brief remarks at the ceremony.
India will sit in the 15-nation United Nations Security Council for the 2021-22 term as a non-permanent member – the eighth time that the country has had a seat on the powerful horseshoe table.

“India in collaboration with other pro-reform countries has been consistently making efforts to build support among the UN member states for expansion of the UNSC, in both permanent and non-permanent categories,” the minister said.
India will be a member of the United Nation’s Commission on Status of Women for four years – 2021 to 2025.
India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador T S Tirumurti said that many other members of the Security Council underlined that Jammu and Kashmir was a bilateral matter between India and Pakistan and also stressed on the importance of the Simla Agreement.
