The deal marks the first time rival East Asian powers China, Japan and South Korea have been in a single free trade agreement.
China joined 14 countries this week in agreeing terms for RCEP, which could become the world’s biggest free trade deal if officially signed next year as planned.
The China-India equation has been recast after the informal meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Wuhan last year.
