This intra-Afghan dialogue, will be the first high-level meeting between the two sides after years of fighting and is a key clause of the agreement that the Taliban signed with the United States of America on February 29th in Doha.
The ceasefire was declared solely for Eid festivities.
All 15 members supported the resolution, tabled by the United States, which endorses a joint US-Afghan declaration on peace and an agreement signed between Washington and the Taliban.
The UN deputy chief issued an impassioned plea on Sunday for Afghans to reconcile with the past and put “women at the centre” of all efforts to forge a durable peace, and a truly inclusive political process where women’s voices are truly heard.
