Svetlana Ryzhakova is no newcomer to India. An ethnographer and a cultural anthropologist, she is a leading research fellow at the Centre of Asian and Pacific Studies in the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Russian Academy of Sciences. Fluently speaking English and other languages, she is one of the foremost Indologists in Russia today. Proficient in Kathak, she also runs an Indian Anthropological Cinema club for the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
