In the foreseeable future the usefulness of Iran’s Chabahar port and the INSTC for the landlocked Central Asian countries will triumph over those of other connectivity routes.
The Chabahar port facilitates a significant transit route to connect South Asia with Central Asia while bypassing Pakistan which has consistently impeded land access from India to Afghanistan and beyond.

One of the deputies of the Port and Maritime Organisation of Iran , Farhad Montaser has said that Iran had not inked any deal with India regarding the project.
Once signed, the deal will open doors for Chinese investment across the Iranian economy.
The Chabahar port — jointly being developed by India, Iran and Afghanistan — is considered a gateway to golden opportunities for trade with central Asian nations by the three countries.
The challenge for India’s diplomacy therefore is to find a way out of the USA’s conflict with Iran (and also with Russia) so that its vital energy and maritime connectivity interests in the case of Iran remain unaffected.
