Afghanistan Needs a Humanitarian Ceasefire to Fight COVID-19

Since their creation as an instrument of external strategic influence in 1994, the Taliban have enjoyed safe havens, an operational infrastructure, diplomatic support, as well as medical treatment of their wounded fighters on foreign soil in our neighborhood—from where they continue to prosecute a terror campaign across Afghanistan.

Sikhs in Afghanistan: Under Siege

The IS, perhaps chose to target the Sikhs to drive home the point that they too exist in the power equation in Afghanistan.  The IS’s central group operates in Afghanistan through Islamic State Khorasan (IS-K). Territorially, the IS may have diminished and its hierarchy remains uncertain post the death of Abu-Bakr Al Bhagdadi in October last year.
