Iran’s English-language News Television said on its “Telegram” channel: “It was reported that a helicopter carrying President Raisi encountered an accident in northwest Iran.”
According to Iran’s SNN news agency, the helicopter made an emergency landing due to heavy fog. Search and rescue operation had begun even earlier. The accident is believed to have been conditioned by bad inclement weather, which also increased the difficulty of the search and rescue work.
Iranian state television station Press TV quoted government officials as saying that rescuers were trying to reach the site of President Raisi’s crashed helicopter in northwest Iran. The report stated that “the rescue team is trying to reach the area where the Iranian presidential helicopter incident occurred.”
According to the Tasnim news agency, Iran’s foreign minister and the country’s president were on board the helicopter that caused the accident. “Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian was also on the helicopter carrying the country’s president,” the source said.
Iranian state television described the site of a suspected crash involving a helicopter carrying Iran’s president. The site is about 600 kilometers northwest of Tehran.
