Israeli missiles strike Iran
By IAR Desk
The American Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) television station quoted a US official as saying that Israel launched missile strikes against Iranian facilities.
Iranian media reported that explosions were heard near the Isfahan Airport area and the 8th Iraqi Air Force Base, and the air defense system over Isfahan was activated against small drones (three explosions occurred); and the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that many provinces in Iran have activated air defense systems.
Flights over Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz have been canceled indefinitely. At the same time, the Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, the capital of Iran, has stopped passenger services.
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, Iran’s nuclear facilities in Isfahan are safe. According to a later report by CNN, Iran’s nuclear facilities were not targeted by Israel.
An Iranian official said that Iran was not hit by a missile and that the explosion was the result of an air defense system.
After the attack on Iran, an air defense warning was issued in northern Israel.
Unprecedented Iranian strikes on Israel
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement in the early morning of April 14, stating that it launched dozens of drones and missiles at Israeli targets. This move was in response to Israel’s attack on the Iranian Consulate in Syria on April 1. According to multiple sources, the attack used Shahed drones, Fattah and Fattah-2 hypersonic missiles. Iranian state television station Press TV reported that all hypersonic missiles hit their targets.
According to the Israeli military, Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles, including about 170 drones, more than 30 cruise missiles, and more than 120 ballistic missiles. Israel also stated that only a few missiles flew into Israel and caused minor damage.
Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, said that Tehran has completed the operation of “real commitment” and has no intention to continue this operation, but if Israel takes retaliatory measures, Iran’s next operation will be larger than this one.
Benny Gantz, a member of Israel’s war cabinet, said Israel plans to build a regional alliance against the Iranian threat and demand a price from Iran in a suitable way and time. The Israeli government is expected to decide on further actions in the near future.
