India has walked out of a meeting of National Security Advisors (NSA) meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meet that was chaired by Russia, which is currently holding the chair of the organisation.

The walk out was in protest against the Pakistan delegate’s projection of a “fictitious” map which India has termed “deliberate”.

The Pakistani NSA “deliberately projected a fictitious map that Pakistan has recently been propagating,” Anurag Shrivastava, the spokesperson of India’s Ministry of External Affairs said.

The move came in consultation with the chair. Projection of the map by the Pakistani NSA was “in blatant disregard to the advisory by the host against it and in violation of the norms of the meeting.”

Ajit Doval, India’s NSA left the meeting”in protest” only “after consultation with the host,” the spokesperson said.

Pakistan last month had unveiled a “new political map” which had shown within it’s territory regions in India – Jammu and Kashmir, and Junagadh. India had called it an “exercise in political absurdity”.
