Fresh clashes seemed to have broken out between Indian and Chinese in Eastern Ladakh.
According to Indian Army statement, the Army has thwarted an attempt by Chinese soldiers to change the status quo on the Southern Banks of Pangong Tso Lake.
In a statement, Indian Army’s PRO Col Aman Anand said, “On the night of 29/30 August 2020, PLA troops violated the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements during the ongoing standoff in Eastern Ladakh and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo. Indian troops pre-empted this PLA activity on the Southern Bank of Pangong Tso Lake, undertook measures to strengthen our positions and thwart Chinese intentions to unilaterally change facts on ground.”

Indian Army is committed to maintaining peace and tranquility in the region through dialogue, but is also equally determined to protect its territorial integrity, Col. Aman Anand added.
According to the Indian officials, a Brigade Commander level Flag Meeting is underway to address the situation.
India and China have been locked in a border stand-off along the 4,057 km Line of Actual Control since the last week of April. The violent face-off between the troops of both countries in Pangong Tso on 15 June left 20 Indian army soldiers dead, and an unknown number of Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) casualties.
A series of disengagement talks at the diplomatic and military level have been undetaken since.
Relations between both neighbouring countries remain tense.
