Saudi Arabia set to launch new tourist visa policy
Saudi Arabia is all set to launch its new tourist visa policy at a glittering ceremony on September, 27th. In keeping with the kingdom’s diversification policy of its economy, to move it away from its over-dependence on oil, and in keeping with its ambitious Vision 2030 policy Saudi Arabia is aggressively marketing its tourism potential and opening up the kingdom to tourist inflow.
According to Arabian Business Saudi Arabia has also taken to social media to highlight its potential as a tourist destination ahead of the official launch of its tourist visas later in September.
A video – which uses the hashtag #WhereInTheWorld – has been widely shared on Twitter.
The 30-second long video depicts a number of destinations across the kingdom, comparing them to other global tourist destinations such as the Maldives, the Caribbean, Vietnam, Petra and the Colorado Rockies.

The tourist visas will officially be launched at a glittering event on September 27, according to media reports.
The visas will be available to people from about 50 countries, sources have said, while another said that the country list was still in flux as recently as last month.
The plans were first reported by Saudi newspaper Okaz, which said the visas would be issued online or on arrival for a fee of SR440 ($117) starting September 27, citing people it didn’t identify.
A public relations firm linked to the government has invited reporters and leading international travel and tourism experts to an event that day called “Saudi Arabia opens to tourism”.
