Tajikistan deepens ties with Istanbul as foreign ministers meet

 The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin paid an  official visit to Turkey on 22 April 2019. He met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu, after which delegation level talks were held between the two sides.

During the talks, a wide range lof issues related to the current state, bilateral and multilateral relations and prospects for cooperation were discussed.

The sides exchanged views on cooperation in politics, economy, trade, investment, industry, education, culture, tourism, security, combating terrorism and strengthening the legal framework for cooperation  At the same time, the parties coordinated their further actions on  international policy and within the framework of international and regional organizations.

The Foreign Ministers signe​d​ a Memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey in the field of archives.

Following the negotiations, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries addressed a press conference.

This visit is expected to significantly boost ties between the two countries. Like most Central Asian states Tajikistan looks to Turkey as a model Muslim state to emulate.
