The Durand Line and Afghan Pakistani clashes

Frequent violent clashes between Afghan and Pakistani security forces along their disputed border, the colonial-era Durand Line drawn in 1893, have strained ties between Islamabad and Kabul. Afghanistan does not accept the legitimacy of the Durand Line, claiming it is a violation of its sovereignty, while Pakistan believes it is an accepted international border. These tensions will likely worsen following the pending departure of the Americans from Afghanistan.

“Signs of hope in Yemen”

The momentum to reach a political settlement in Yemen “has been building”, the United Nations Special Envoy to the country told the Security Council on November 22nd, attributing the positive development to compromises on “a range of issues”.

India finishes 400 social infra projects in Afghanistan, US praises effort

All the projects are undertaken in partnership with the Afghan government and are spread across each of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan in diverse fields of development, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, administrative capacity, flood control, irrigation, agriculture, sports, Indian ambassador to the US Harsh Vardhan Shringla said.
