Tajik Foreign Minister discusses cooperation with India

Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat

On June 5, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of India, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen cultural, literary and tourism cooperation between the two countries, noting that these relations are strengthened on the basis of centuries-old historical, linguistic and spiritual ties.

A number of initiatives were reviewed, including the development of a unified catalog of Tajik-Persian manuscripts preserved in Indian libraries and archives and their digitalization, as well as the implementation of digital projects such as the online platform Ganjinai Bedil, dedicated to the works of the renowned Persian-language Indian poet Mirzo Abdulqodir Bedil.

The parties also discussed holding joint cultural events, including Cultural Days, supporting the publication of a multilingual anthology titled Heart in the Mirror of the Heart, and restoring the historic “Heart Garden” in Delhi as a symbol of shared cultural heritage.

Special attention was given to expanding educational and scientific cooperation, including the establishment of academic faculties, research centres, and training programs. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening direct collaboration in the fields of media and information exchange.
