Israel has been gripped by protests over the last few days. As reported by Israeli broadsheet Haaretz, the Black Flag movement continues its demonstrations against the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, for his trial for alleged corruption, and for alleged  attempts to subvert democracy in the country.

There have been thousands of protesters who demonstrated on Saturday, July 18, at dozens of junctions and highways all across the county and beyond, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Netanyahu for corruption and for attempts to subvert democracy by attacking the justice system, law and the enforcement also about the media.

The protest was held against the similar backdrop of a spike in the corona virus cases and protests over the government’s response to the outbreak of economy and the fallout as a consequence, thus planning to annex parts of the West Bank.

“Last week, we were exposed to the tremendous damages that result from having an indicted criminal sitting in the prime minister’s chair,” added the protest organisers, who also stated that they were against the government that Netanyahu was trying to rule over to evade the trial.

One of the protesters also said they were attending the protest which was the second Saturday in a row, since he felt they are the citizens of the state, and they had no other county to go to, thus the citizens should be taking the initiatives and influence the public agenda, he said.

Police arrested two Akiva residents, barely twenty years of age as the report says, after they threw eggs at the protesters who gathered at the Binyamina junction from a moving car.
The police there, also said they had brought the two suspects into the police station for investigation and will decide whether to pursue the matter further or not.

The protesters have seen a major hike in the number across the country in the recent few weeks.

Saturday’s protest following last week, when dozens of pro democracy demonstrators gathered in a protest area set up by activists on Rothschild Boulevard, in Tel Aviv.

Keeping all of this Netanyahu keeps the annexation alive, whilst closing Palestinians rank.

Almost two thousand Israelis braved the coronavirus fear and protested against what they percievedpto be an ‘assault on democracy’.

Several other protesters gathered again in Azreili Junction in Tel Aviv, in a demonstration organised by the standing together organisation, that basically demands economic security.
Two weeks prior to all of this, 1500 protesters gathered in Jerusalem to demand the release of detained activists who were arrested because as leaders of a protest, they were deemed responsible for blocking of roads at an Anti Netanyahu rally.

Three of the protesters amongst all of them, including the protest leader and retired Air force Brigadier General Amir Haskel, have been unconditionally released by the Jerusalem District Court following comments that condemn their detention.
